Lyn Dillin

I grew up in Long Beach, California. I earned a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art while having the time of my life at Chico State University, in Northern California. From 1980 to 1985 I traveled, drawing and painting my way from the American Southwest to Europe and India, Indonesia, Nepal and Southeast Asia. I designed jewelry, drew pictures and followed my heart. That was fun.

In 1986 I settled down a little and established Lost Coast Design Company. I created logos, posters, postcards, newsletters and letterhead and provided illustration for a variety of commercial and non-profit uses including packaging, wine and clothing labels, t-shirts, and book covers.

From 1986 through 2001 I was also a primary illustrator for Personal Stamp Exchange, a now legendary rubber stamp & sticker design house. Since 2001 I’ve been a featured designer of licensed images for Inkadinkado, one of the largest craft rubberstamp companies in America.

Now I concentrate on design licensing for a variety of merchandise. My imagery has been used on products sold through Michael’s, Beverly’s and JoAnne’s Crafts Stores, along with Marshall’s, Ross Stores, Saks off Fifth Avenue, TJ Maxx, and boutique gift shops across America.

I keep working on my sketchbook journals, as I have since I was a 17 year old art student. These, along with my personal drawings & paintings, chronicle my betwitching mood swings and repeated attempts to ascertain the difference between emptiness and pointlessness.

Making art is what I've always liked to do. Commercial design rocks as day jobs go. I know what it is and I know what it isn't. All this just happened to me. Who can explain our lives?
